Drowning on Jerusalem
In the small ocean-front town of Cohasset, Massachusetts there is a long windy road know as Jerusalem Road. It is lined with cliffs and backs up to an outlet of the Atlantic Ocean known as Straits Pond. The houses on this road are big and extravagant inside and out. They have beautiful yards that are lush, green, and adorn with eye-catching landscaping. Along this road one house stands out in particular, 739 Jerusalem road. Behind the house sits a statue of a young girl, who faces the outlet of the ocean. The statue stands three feet tall, a gray, mossy, bulky mass, with a round nose and body. She has an innocent look in her piercing eyes. One of her palms lay across the other and she has a slight left tilt to her head. The statue's creepy appearance looks very out of place within the beautifully landscaped yard. It is said that the people who used to own the house, many years before my father was even born, erected the statue in memory of their little girl who died tragically at the house. One summer's day she was playing in the yard when she accidentally fell from the tall cliff behind the house. She then drowned in the outlet before she could be saved. The story goes that if you go to this house on a summer's night and sit absolutely still and silent, you can see the little girl's statue walking towards the outlet. However, if you udder a word to her or she sees you approaching she will instantly disappear.
